I’ve been investigating swarming behavior and the aesthetic architectural world which has sprung out of the phenomena swarming. As an effect of the first investigation, I started working with particles and their behavior. Swarming is not the same thing as particle movement, but particle movement generates similar effects. Density, weaving and movement are things which I have been working with in the promatorium Eclectic Nesting and its companion the Garden of Remembrance, a symbolic graveyard.
The process where 2D lines become 3D geometry is crucial in the design process. The overall shapes (Garden of Remembrance plus Promatorium) are based on particle computed line works, who’s attributes I’ve set to generate depending on specific densities, assigned the room which was intended to be designed. Geometry has been computed in three steps, layers, if you so will.
